Inspection Before Installation Of Cartridge Mechanical Seal

The quality of the cartridge mechanical seal's operation and the length of its life largely depend on the conditions of the equipment itself. Therefore, before installing the cartridge mechanical seal, careful inspection of the equipment will reduce the possibility of seal failure and maintenance costs. . The equipment must be checked from the following aspects:

1.The diameter and depth of the mechanical seal cavity should be consistent with the dimensions on the seal assembly drawing, the general deviation is ±0.13mm; the size deviation of the shaft or bushing is ±0.03mm or ±{{0}}.00mm-0.05. Check the axial runout of the shaft, the total axial runout cannot exceed 0.25mm; the radial runout of the shaft is checked, and the radial runout of the shaft is generally less than 0.05mm. Excessive radial runout may cause: wear of the shaft or bushing; increased leakage between the sealing surfaces; increased vibration of the equipment, thereby reducing the life of the mechanical seal.

2.Shaft curvature check. The maximum curvature of the shaft should be less than {{0}}.07mm. Check the runout of the sealing cavity surface, the runout of the sealing cavity surface should not exceed 0.13mm. If the surface of the seal cavity is not perpendicular to the shaft, it may cause a series of failures of the mechanical seal. Because the sealing gland is fixed on the sealing gland by bolts, the vibration of the sealing cavity is too large, which causes the installation of the gland to be inclined, which in turn causes the inclination of the sealing static ring, which causes the whole seal to shake abnormally, which is caused by fretting wear. The main reason is that the wear of the mechanical seal and the auxiliary seal of the shaft or shaft sleeve will also increase, and the abnormal shaking of the seal will also cause the wear and fatigue of the metal bellows or transmission pin, resulting in premature failure of the seal.

3.Check the alignment between the seal cavity hole and the shaft, and the misalignment should be less than 0.13mm. Misalignment between the seal cavity hole and the shaft will affect the dynamic load between the sealing surfaces, thereby shortening the operating life of the seal. To adjust the centering degree, a better centering degree can be obtained by adjusting the gasket between the pump head and the bearing frame or reprocessing the contact surface.
